About
![]() Like most people who become a professional photographer, Sarah has tried other things before... pub management, telesales, secretary, archaeologist. It was whilst working for English Heritage as an Assistant Inspector of Ancient Monuments that she realised that perhaps she ought to start being a little more serious about her photography--especially when she kept getting asked for copies of photos for publications and presentations! In 2008 Sarah decided to set up Sarah Cole Photography, bringing her archaeological and heritage management experience together with her skills as a photographer. Since then the business has been all over the country working on a diverse range of projects and commissions; everything from large international conferences, small community festivals, portraits of storytellers, to tea dances and Tai Chi classes. Two’s company... Everyone needs a good partner in crime... and Sarah is no exception, that’s why Sarah Cole Photography is actually the sum of two parts; Sarah and John. As a couple Sarah and John have worked together professionally since 2007, primarily for John’s wedding and portrait photography business, Light & Dark Photography. When Sarah set up Sarah Cole Photography it seemed only natural that when necessary John would be involved too. John has been a professional photographer for over 20 years, and opened his portrait studio in Penistone (near Barnsley) in 2004. Prior to this John had also worked as a primary school teacher in Leeds and Bradford. Since Sarah Cole Photography specialises in working within communities with groups and schools, having an experienced teacher on hand is invaluable! We work with you to capture the whole flavour of the event or project; be it a day, week, month or year... Where possible we will meet with you prior to the event to discuss your needs, and make sure that we understand your requirements, afterall the reason for hiring professional photographers is that you'll have photographs of the event that you'll be able to use again and again. |
